Dear Mom, Dad, and Jessie,
It was certainly nice to see you, Mom and Dad; sorry you had to leave so soon. These canned goods are a big, big help - not only budget-wise but also in sheer convenience. I'm really enjoying that blue stool too since its just the right height for sitting while I'm washing and wiping the dishes. Jessica and I both are enjoying the rocking chair. Jessica is making good use of the playpen since she is determined to roll over. Poor little thing, she keeps trying and trying, with her head and neck bent like a little turtle, but no luck so far. I put the playpen in the bedroom by the full length mirror and Jessica contentedly coos to herself or to one of her now plentiful playthings. Pooh took over the playpen for a few minutes but then when I put Jessica in it, he very disgustedly removed himself and hasn't gotten back in it since.
My throat is much better and I am eating pretty well again although I can't chew too well yet.
Les and Hope were here for dinner Tuesday night. We had those wonderful round steaks which you left. Thank you very much. Pete and Les cut up the deer (a two-point buck). Hope and I wrapped it and got dinner ready. We took the meat down to the frozen food locker and rented a compartment for $12 a year. We got 80 pounds of venison, mostly all steaks and roasts and a couple of packages for stew and mince meat, certainly will be a big help.
Arlo and Virginia sent Jessica several little presents. In addition to the hand-knit sweater (a very pretty white one with a rather unusual but pretty design), they sent a pink and white dress and pantie set and a pair of real cute little moccasins with a rocking horse design on them.
Thanks again for all the things you brought us, and for coming to see us.
Love,
Me

P.S. Say 'hi' to Gary and Aggie and their young ones for us. I keep intending to write them  - someday.
