Red Roses by Syed Anjum Ali Bokhari

Red Roses
by Prof (r) Syed Anjum Ali Bokhari

No painter can capture that elusive fragrance
That suggestive redolence
of love, bright red and shining
reflected in the eyes of the loved one;

Amidst all the upheaval and strife
They still raise their lovely heads,
Even though fallen before her feet;

''A flower that once has blown forever dies'',
said Khayyam-
But No! No!
For the Creator has promised a Resurrection,
Fallen roses too will rise;

In their newborn redness
I will also see my beloved's red lips reborn,
now and then, always.
