Charlotte Shaw: The Timberline Outlaw by T.E. McGeorge

Historical Western Romance

This is a love story. One sister’s love for the other. The story is told by Charlotte's younger sister Sarah. Charlotte Shaw,  a strong young girl, with a boyish face, lived part of her life as a man in the old west.  After the sisters became stranded on the vast central prairies of Oklahoma to fend for themselves. Charlotte became Charlie and took on the persona of a young cowboy to protect her sister.

Sarah and her tomboy sister rarely saw troublesome situations with the same amount of importance. She always thought she was dealing with different siblings.

Her sister’s Charlotte personality would marry become a guardian for every child in town.  Struggles with the death of her husband, wrestle with her relationship with God, and morph into an upright citizen.

Her sister’s Charlie personality would become a cattle rustler and maim the man that wronged her sister.  She would then settle down and start a freight wagon business. Only to become a vigilante again to deal with a dangerous cowboy.

A deed that caught the attention of a Texas Ranger.

The story has a melancholy ending which leaves her legacy in a good light. The story has violence, love, romance, and humor. Above all, it tells a story of how the family is all-important.

Charlie was selfless with courage and compassion. The type of person we would all like to be. Charlie’s drive, determination, innovation, and sheer willpower show the true grit our ancestors needed to settle our country. I’m sure we all have ancestors of this caliber or wish we did.
