BEST FRIENDS ARE MADE BY RIDING HORSES

by Carolina Yepes

If you ride horses, no matter how, you will agree that when you ride, you can find dear friends everywhere you go, just because you share this linking in common. When you ride a horse, connection with the real world, trouble, noise, time and so on is lost, it is a kind of meditation. What better to share this mental state with beloved friends.

Leaving Bogotá-Colombia, at least one weekend a month, we used to join with the excuse of making a new horse journey, going by trails with endless landscapes and with the best companions: Friends and horses.

Destinations are diverse: Spots that are special because of the kindness of their hosts, for the amazing horses and also because of the number of landscapes, climates, and places where you can be: Destinations close to Bogota, and not so close are part of the schedule. Sometimes we get to the place by car in a couple of hours, sometimes we must take an AWD truck and even planes to get to wonderful places around this beautiful country.

Occasionally you can even move from a cold or wet weather to a warmer or dry one during the same ride, within a couple of hours, because Colombia has that magic.

Journeys are so nice, always sharing breakfast at the meeting point, early in the morning, before the ride. We consistently have new members in the crew, so new bonds are created among riders and horses as well. In the end, we share lunch and there will be always  new excuses to get together again.

Groups are diverse, we accept kids from 10 years old (with their parents), young people, and adults, who like nature and horses. It is this affinity that reinforces the bonds of friendship that are created every time we join.

But the activities do not end there, we have great times as friends: barbecues, trips, movies, dinners, and dancing are just some of the things we do (or used to) as entertainment.

Wherever you live or ride, do not ever miss the opportunity of getting to know new people who are just like you, or just like me: Simply horse lovers.
