Local Author Launches New Book
In these days, when the dream vacation seems to be a cruise on a luxury liner to a tropical island, why would anyone choose instead to travel hundreds of miles through small towns and country roads on a bicycle? Short answer: to maintain good health, discover hidden attractions, and see the world from a different perspective. For more detail, check out Two on Two Wheels: Adventures on a Bicycle, just released by local author Celeste Parsons via Monday Creek Publishing.
Celeste and her husband Jim have been cycling together for their 58 years of marriage. They used bikes to commute to work, gradually increased the length of their tours while their daughter grew up and have made a major trip annually since retirement. Drawing on their experiences, Two on Two Wheels documents both practical tips on planning, equipping, and executing a vacation trip by bicycle and memorable features of their journeys, which encompass 92,000 miles distributed among 30 states, Canada, and England. Interspersed among the chapters are Songs of the Bike--poems written during and about bicycle adventures.
You can meet the author and purchase a book at the launch event at Athens Cycle Path104 W. Union Street, Athens, on August 15 at 5:30 p.m. Ride a bicycle to the launch and receive $1.00 off your book.
