“This
thrilling story takes us to an alternate world in the future after the Great
Disaster on Earth. We meet NightRacer,
a former Earth cadet who’s on a mission to find his daughter. As the story
takes shape, only bits and pieces are revealed on what really transpired before
the Earth was nuked. It’s like picking up the pieces of the puzzle from every
chapter and trying to make sense of them as more secrets are revealed. The
narrative style effectively shows NightRacer’s inner struggles as parts of his
chemically-erased memories come flooding back in. It captures the seemingly uncontrollable
fear and the sometimes overwhelming confusion that further complicates the
situation he is in.
“It’s
easy to be emotionally invested in
NightRacer because he’s a well-drawn out character with an unclear past and
an uncertain future. Though he may not be a complex character from the get go,
the element of not knowing parts of his life make him a bit more complicated.
His interaction with other characters is superbly written that it does not give
away (at least not straight away) who’s on his side and who’s not. Then the
plot twist hits you hard and you’d willingly suspend your disbelief just because
you realize how clever it is.
“The
author masterfully creates a world and populates it with compelling characters
that you become deeply attached and start to actually care about how the story
would unravel. With a clever plot and fluid writing style, NightRacer is an absolutely thrilling sci-fi read.”

“I’ve
been a science fiction fan since I was old enough to watch Star Trek so I’m always happy to come across a promising new author
(or at least new to me) in the genre. Dinu Paladi’s sci-fi fantasy “NightRacer” takes you to a futuristic
world of spore blizzards and Devil’s Grass and touched towns full of soulless
addicts dreaming of strawberry fields.
The story starts out following sixty year old Colonel NightRacer AWOL
from base and resigning his position as Chief of New Arizona’s Security as he
embarks on a search for his daughter, Hellen. After the Great Verdict he had
his memory chemically erased, but as the story unfolds he decides to recover
what he’s forgotten. What he comes to learn is that life as he’s known it is an
illusion, and what he discovers will change his world.
“This
is a story that draws you in gently before quickly picking up speed. With an
unlikely protagonist and a slowly unfolding world, its hook is subtle but
strong. Dinu Paladi’s world building is brilliant in its bleakness, and the
descriptive style of writing brings it all to live without going overboard with
the detail. It’s a story I found impossible to set aside once I started
reading, and the unpredictable plot makes it impossible to guess what might
happen next. NightRacer is a constantly evolving character as well, and his
journey is a sort of rebirth that was fascinating to follow.
“Overall
I found it to be an all-around excellent sci-fi story that’s as much personal
journey as it is fantastic sci-fi adventure.”
