        April 1982

·        To barn, new black ewe lamb (large), white face, looked for little chicks in haymow > Pete to Charleston > sorted out newspapers > worked at clinic briefly, cleaned barn > UPS man, took Puff, rode around meadow, took Streak, Puff

·        To barn/clinic > rode Junie, J rode Eric’s horse, Eric, Pete rode around thru Phillip’s Place, saw deer > Streak climbed out of pen > CJ’s, movie “On Golden Pond” excellent

·        Christian Ed Class, showed Stanley Green Urantia book, to Church > buffet Old Coach Inn with Pat, Brent > Pete worked in garden > Streak jumped out of yard > Pete checked trailer > read by fire, kept falling asleep

·        Pete, Eric here for lunch > fixed roof on barn, wind damage, turned sliding gate over, bent hydrant back > napped

·        Up 4:45 am, worked at desk, wrote letters > worked at barn > borrowed Volkswagen (Pat’s friend), small claims court no show, ran errands > Chamber music, harpsicord, CJ’s

·        Worked at barn > Annie S. rode Junie, I rode Apple > Mr. Fryman at clinic > napped

·        Up early, read Urantia book > cleaned out dog pen, worked at barn > Pete worked in garden > Pete on calls > Gazette called > Uncle Bill died this morning > read briefly

·        Worked at barn, black ewe lamb had black ewe lamb > got driver’s license, took Eric, social security office, picked up birthday cake for Pat, took Eric to barn, then home > Pete and I sunrise and moonlight ride

·        Marshall here for breakfast, took dogs > used Pat’s car, drove to Mansfield, took Puff > Dick, Evelyn Haley, Gary, Aggie, Uncle Bill’s funeral – Marion, Aunt Clara’s house, Gretchen, met her new husband (1 year), 2 girls visiting from Australia > Gary check my teeth > drove home, stopped at doughnut place/Lancaster > Pete, Pat, Brent, CJ’s, movie

·        To barn, turned ewe out (took dead lamb back up), wether ewes in barn > Festal Evehorst [?], incense, etc., dropped tax info off to Stan Jones > dinner, watched end of “Gigi” > Gary fixed Pete’s teeth > watched TV Nighthawks

·        Barn/clinic > Choral Vespers, Lutheran, Episcopal reception > on 2 farm calls, Dishon’s’, Fokes

·        Barn, Dr. Littler’s eye exam > long dress left to be shorted, ran errands, filled Pat’s car > Pat helped feed at barn > rode Junie, took Streak > put Lucas' 30 or so cows back in > looked for Pete's bridle > read by fire, fell asleep while reading more of Urantia book

·        Barn > Pete to Hartley’s on call, brought home Maine Coon kitten

·        Worked at barn > went on calls with Pete to Charleston, Pomeroy, ate at Duff's in Gallipolis > to Nancy Bonnett’s

·        Worked at barn/clinic > used Pat's car to pay real estate taxes

·        Barn, bedded sheds down, let little goats out of pen > piano/flute concert, last half > CJ’s, saw Fritz, Carolyn there, O’Hooley’s hammered dulcimer

·        Early church > Put new halter/bridle together for Pete > motorcycle run through farm > rode to Dow Lake, ate lunch on the trail: raisin, nuts, apples > rode all through bridle trails, back down old township road Scatter Ridge to Dutch Creek, back around, saw beaver cuttings, grouse several places, deer > barn, put Apple in, Junie out > read

·        Barn, kids out again > to clinic > switched horses > read Urantia book

·        Up at 5:30 am, worked at desk, wrote letters to Mom/Dad > worked at barn > balanced bank statements > Pete, Pat deworm sheep, 5 castrated, 1 Harlequin ram lamb

·        To barn, used Colonel to get lambs in, no herding instincts > to symphony, saw Moore’s, to movies, O’Hooley’s

·        Barn/clinic > Leroy Lewis demonstrated Border Collie “Colonel” tried Colonel to drive whole flock, he drove them away, he tried > went to bed early, tired

·        Up at 5 am, dishes, desk work > worked at barn, worked Colonel with whistle > worked at clinic 11:30 am to 4:30 pm  

·        Church, buffet > rode, took Colonel, Streak, Puff; Colonel chased ewe down the stream > read Urantia Book > Pete very tired

·        To barn, worked Colonel, almost went around sheep > Dad/Mom here, Pete worked on Cuddles/Snoopy; Snoopy surgery > Daddy took in after new glasses, picked up formal dress > brought me back, we fed at barn > dinner at CJ’s with Mom/Dad/family > back to clinic to check on dogs

·        Early deposition > ran errands, went to Landmark

·        Lancaster, lunch at Fish n Chips > to Tina’s wedding reception dinner/dance, Westbrook, Bob Dick Evelyn

May 1982

·        Home 8:30 am > J and I put heavier wire on electric fence, Pat brought up dog cage > Pete on calls > watched Kentucky Derby > took dogs (Sassy) on long line for walk to hay meadow

·        C.E. > Tony Coleman “Chief Seattle” > Church, Old Coach Inn dinner > Pete watered wildlife tanks/garden > I rode Junie, Pete rode Apple > talked to Blockers/new gas road > treated horses, Windy Hills

·        Worked at clinic > Pete up at midnight, cow c-section

·        Worked at barn, Junie in bottom field, didn’t get goats in > D. Smart cut hair/met > met Blocker’s Casa, movie, O’Hooley’s

·        Wrote letters, Mr. Fryman at clinic, Pete on calls

·        Barn/clinic, Pete to Windy Hills, bred mares > ate at Shaw’s, Lancaster > to Charlie Horse

·        Christian Ed > Art Gish speaker/Church > ate big mess of spinach from the garden > Pat and I drove to cabin/Mother’s Day dinner > Pete, J, Gary, Eric, rode > stopped at Gary Aggie’s, snowmobile trailer too short for Pat’s dune buggy

·        Went after grain alcohol for tail blocking > worked at clinic/barn > Joe DeVoss here for dinner/overnight > went to Windy Hills

·        Pete put manure on garden > Pat, I went to see Mom/Dad at motel > Pat, Dad played golf/driving range > Pete came in watched TV, napped > went to CJs dinner

·        Met Mom/Dad for breakfast, Perkins > baby bird by straw bales > looked for kitty, found him in the garden > Brad/Denise H. here > Pete jogged > to barn, blind ewe had twin ewe lambs, 1 black, 1 white > to Windy Hills

·        Up at 5 am, made yogurt > on calls with Pete, to Nancy Bonnett’s > rode Junie, Pete rode Apple > Eric took meds to Wagner’s

·        To barn, ewe off food > Hugh Downs lecture, autograph > rode Junie, to Windy Hills, rode around Phillip’s Place

·        White lamb dead, ewe off food, Pete shot ewe > worked at clinic > TV no good > Windy Hills, Andy Merrill, banjo/guitar, BBQ, watched reruns of Preakness

·        Worked at barn, feed black lamb goat’s milk > to church, Bishop Black reception > Rode Junie, Pete rode Apple, Eric met us at Wagner’s, Pete/Eric rode, I came back, fed lamb, etc., Apple fell in ditch

·        Worked at barn, herded sheep down, Colonel helped drive, H. Strode sheared sheep, 10 black, 16 white, 1 died (heatstroke?)

·        Apple lame, left hind swollen > worked at barn, put goats in chicken shed > tired

·        Rain, worked at barn, ran errands > Pete/Eric here late for dinner, Blaze got away with pack saddle

·        Worked at barn/clinic, to Albany on calls with Pete > CJs with Hartley’s, O’Hooley’s, Steve Martin movie

·        Church early, Quaker Bruce Ergood > Old Coach Inn > rode Junie, Pete rode Apple, light rain, took Colonel, met Eric, talked to Carol G. at covenant

·        To clinic, people here to look at black ewe lamb > cleaned dog pen > walked fence line, took Streak, Colonel, to woods/hay meadow

·        Barn > shop/ran errands, took Colonel, Ruff, got flowers at greenhouse, saw Jan/Leroy Thompson > Pete fixed fence to hay meadow, took Ruff, Colonel > planted window box/stumps > barn penicillin, lamb

·        To clinic, typed Pat’s resume > to barn

·        Pat off for interview, Pittsburgh (Your Father’s Mustache) > trial > lunch at CJs > trial > Pete clinic surgery

·        Trial > CJs lunch w J Branner > trial > barn, sold black ewe lamb Dougan's Albany

·        Worked at clinic 11-4, Pete on calls, rain

·        To Church > C&E > Pete work at clinic > Pete, Pat hauled old hay from Windy Hills > I rode Junie, Pete rode Apple, took Colonel, Streak, picked up shovel in trail/road

·        Worked at barn, turned little goats out

June

·        Tire repair C&E > on calls, Christy Lash’s > ate at Sizzler’s > to Charleston on calls with Pete, Nancy Bonnett’s, home 1 am

·        Work at clinic, went after yogurt > barn, put kids back in chicken yard > rode Junie, took Colonel, Streak, rode around thru trails in moonlight

·        Took dog books into J for speech, copied articles, talked w K. Foster, lunch at CJ’s > clinic – Pete, Apple, Eric, Colonel

·        Took car in for repair, took Colonel, Puff > taped Prince Caspian

·        Clinic helped Jan balance in > Dr. and Mrs. Frandson’s daughter, son-in-law here, looking for relatives graves, went to graveyard by big elm > lunch at CJs > I went with Frandson’s to old graveyard near The Plains, drove by OU campus, Good Shepherd church > watched Belmont at clinic with Pat, Brent, Carl L. > Pete read rest of Urantia chapter

·        To church > look at Mary D’s Navajo rug exhibit at Alden Library > lunch at OU Inn, talked to Mrs. Marshal, Pat/J’s teacher at Fed Hock > Pete weeded strawberries > Elvira, nanny goat kid dead, broke neck (?), fell off ramp, caught head in barn > I rode Junie, Pete rode Apple, took Colonel, Puff > Pete trimmed Persimmon, Sassy’s feet

·        Wrote Frandson’s > Marshall here briefly > bedded down sheds, turn out, cleaned dog pen, groomed Colonel, Ruffian, Puff

·        Ran errands > went on calls with Pete, took Colonel to Leroy Lewis’, went over his training > dinner at Fryman’s, fell asleep again

·        Worked at clinic, paid bills > put out trap for groundhog at barn > put piece of wire on top of dog pen

·        Ran errands, Landmark > Pete/Pat fixed fence between Lucas’ > worked Streak, Colonel

·        Karl Meeks reset Junie/Apple

·        With Pete on calls

·        Early church > Pete worked on fence, looked for Ruff > found Ruff, caught in fence, hanging by hind leg, Pete had to cut her out

·        Up at 5:45 am > Pete goat show > cleaned pony harness, saddle > steers (oxen) in garden > vacuumed Junie, Burros, Nanette helped > Humane Society people came, Echoing Meadows, no show > cleaned driving harness > Pete, Eric, operated on horse

·        Put mink oil on harness > to church > OU Inn lunch > Pete cleared trail above hay meadow, drove Junie to Dow Lake, gave children rides at Good Shepherd picnic, stopped at Debbie S., gave her boys (one Pam P.) rides > Pete fixed fence by garden > rode Junie, Pete rode Apple, took Puff, Colonel, Streak, picked, ate a lot of black raspberries, delicious

·        Milked Faline > Pete operated on foal > lunch at Perkin’s > Pat, Pete, Bernard [?], geologist from Midland, Texas > to Charleston on calls with Pete, dinner at Nancy Bonnett’s > Nancy, Jamie, went on calls with Pete

·        Milked Faline > Mr. Fryman, clinic > Windy Hills, Pete checked horse, swam, hot tubbed

·        To early church > I rode Junie, Pete rode Apple, picked/consumed blackberries

·        Garter snake in garden > barn, bedded down sheds > Pete jogged > at clinic, drove truck, tore corral out by clinic barn > took puppies down to slate roofed barn

·        Dewormed sheep > Pete on calls to Hoon’s, Larry Smith’s
