A sign in the women's bathroom at the Marietta Visitor's Bureau |
In the bathroom at the Marietta/Washington County Visitor’s Bureau, there is a sign that reads: "door is sticky but not
stuck, press door forward while sliding the latch." I laughed when I read
it as it sounded like my week – a bit sticky with getting things
accomplished, but not completely stuck. I just needed to press forward.
We all encounter moments where our creativity feels
obstructed or progress slows down – like a sticky door. As a writer, these
challenges may range from writer’s block to difficulties in finding the right
words or structuring a narrative. Obstacles do not signify that one is
completely stuck. Through perseverance and continuous effort, akin to pressing
forward while sliding a latch, we can often work through those sticky
situations and move forward. It’s a reminder that persistence, patience, and
determination are key in overcoming temporary setbacks and continuing your
creative journey.
While considering the bathroom sign and staying on track, our team at Monday Creek Publishing has created several new titles that will launch in May. The first is Lilyfield Bog by children’s author Patricia L.H. Black. Patricia’s book launch is tomorrow, May 5, 3PM, at the Athens Public Library, Home Street, Athens, Ohio. Available in hardcover, the book has endearing illustrations by Hannah Sickles. More book launches on the horizon. Stay connected for dates/times.

In the Milliron Trilogy arena, Jody's journal entries from 1981 are on the blog and quotes/quips from Dr. Smith's mother, Betty, post on the Milliron Facebook page here. Jody's second collection of short stories and poems are in the works. I hope to have this collection out mid-summer, as long as I stay unstuck... and press forward.
