Milliron Monday: Kodak Slides 9 24 18

Abbott "Pete" Smith, D.V.M.
June 16, 1938 - February 22, 2010

Welcome to Milliron Monday where every Monday we celebrate the legacy of Pete Smith, D.V.M., and  Milliron: Abbott “Pete” Smith, D.V.M. The Biography (Monday Creek Publishing 2017). A graduate of Colorado State University and a well-known veterinarian in southeast, Ohio, Dr. Smith continues to motivate and inspire. Follow along every Milliron Monday to revisit Dr. Smith's biography.

A wee bit behind today, I was going to write about Pete and his high school yearbook this week, but time has gotten away from me.  I'll post Pete's high school letters next week.

Last Friday, Jessica, Pete's daughter, came to my barn office with boxes of family slides. Some of the slides are unrepairable, while others look like they were taken yesterday. Slides from the 1940's are adorable and worth sharing. Jody, Pete's widow, is included in these slides; her trip to Europe before she married Pete, and more. The above 1960s photo (which was a Kodak slide kept in a box for many years) is of Pete (right) with Jessica's pony, Tinker Toy, and an unknown rider.

The slides need cleaned, spots removed, and put in order. There are slides from Boy Scout events, vacations, family outings/reunions, and much more! I am excited to share these with Jody and Pete's family! Family archives are an important part of Pete's legacy and I have tried, with the family's help, to resurrect and archive photos. It's a very long process, but worth doing.

I have become very good at restoring slides. If you need help restoring and digitizing your slides, please send an email to mondaycreekpublishing.com! Once they are digitized, you can share on social media, and make a flash drive for all of your family/friends.

Jessica is coming back on Friday and we are finishing up the third box. We worked six hours to digitize over 100 slides! Good conversation, funny anecdotes, and heartfelt banter, I am looking forward to Friday! Have a great week ahead!
