"Here at the Writer’s Bloc, we don’t normally review non-fiction, preferring to be oh-so-choosy. There’s a lot of non-fiction out there, and not so much of it is, well, good."
Boy, are we glad Backpack's new memoir, Looking Glass Shattered, crossed our desk. Really glad. Backpack delivers another terrific effort, which seems not so much an effort for a broadcaster, journalist and news editor of his talent. He gives us true stories that remain memorable, long after you put the book down.
A lot of people ask Backpack, “Why did you walk away from the cubicle to start adventure and risk?”
Roy Backpack Baron says, "I had well over thirty reasons to do it and it's forever changed how I see the world". Backpack learns from retired CIA operatives, Admirals, Generals, Bureau Chiefs, Fortune 500 CEO's to the downtrodden homeless around the USA how our nation is quickly turning into a third world hell hole and how selecting him to be your President in 2016 will turn things around.
"Backpack packs a lot into life and writes exclusive, riveting, feature articles for our magazine,” said Janorama, Founding Editor In Chief of the million plus visitors Magnified View Magazine.
He earned his nickname, 'Backpack', when he hit pause on his IT executive career, making for a four year adventure, crisscrossing North America. Preparing for his life-enriching sabbatical which turned out to be a four-year Odyssey across the United States.
He donated all his worldly possessions trading his corporate cocoon cubicle for a backpack. He filled up a backpack with bare necessities, (earning his nickname), He traveled thousands of miles back and forth from sea to shining sea.
He traveled by train, plane, bus, bike, hitchhiking, and on foot. He interviewed well to do, the blue collar and befriended the downtrodden homeless Veterans. He lived in ghettos, hotels, campsites, hostels, homeless shelters, and with families.
Adventure means risk and uncertain outcomes. Backpack's journal Looking Glass Shattered reveals some close calls he encountered on his journey, including dodging reckless traffic in Manhattan and avoiding toxic water in the wilderness. Backpack's street savvy skills helped him dodge dangerous conniving bad guys.
As a people magnet, he met some fond new friends on his trek. "Backpack makes a major contribution to the Magnified View's Magazine 'analysis of News you can use' and provides 'actionable tactics, methods, and strategies to survive and thrive in these dangerous troubled times,” observed Janorama, Magnified View's Editor in Chief. Backpack recounts his life-enriching adventure crafting feature articles for the million plus visitor Magnified View.
